  1. goncalves2424 Said,

    Hey Shawn, Looking at your swing it looks like you hit the ball effortlessly and the ball just takes off. Just out of curiousity how far can you drive the ball? what is your longest drive and what is your average drive?

  2. airkilroy23 Said,

    Shawn, I have developed a problem with my drive. I was hitting great for months and then all the sudden my drives have been taking off with perfect trajectory and after about 80-100 yards, they just dive out of the air. They all go straight but 90% of the time they are diving. Any clue as to what causes this?

  3. baztube Said,

    You can hit the ball both left and right handed?! That must be pretty rare!

  4. clemshaw Said,

    @Dagenie2D Sure; have a look at “golf pro lesson stop shanking” and “golf pro lesson head steady and shanking part 2″; if you are new to the game, you should definitely get my dvd series as it has all the important information in priority sequence so you don’t miss out on anything important; disc#3 of the series has the execution of all shots on course from Driver to putter in detail; All the best! Shawn

  5. Dagenie2D Said,

    @clemshaw
    Thanks! Any tips on not shanking it? I’m new, but most of my irons go straight, while my driver ALWAYS manages to shank right. It’s really annoying.
    Also, I’m right handed.

  6. clemshaw Said,

    @Dagenie2D,

    Today’s drivers have bigger heads and the centre of gravity is much lower and further back in the head. What this means in real life is they are designed to hit the ball higher and with less spin. The difference in technique comes with hitting the ball more on the upswing and hitting it slightly high of centre on the face. You’ll need to tee the ball high enough so that at least half the ball is peeking above the crown of the driver.

  7. Dagenie2D Said,

    I’m pretty new to the game, so could you please help me out with knowing the difference between the modern and old drivers? I’m having trouble with knowing where and how high to tee it off and making good contact in general. Will it say the difference on the driver?

  8. clemshaw Said,

    Not at all! The Drivers today are designed for higher launch with lower spin; as long as you are not hitting down on the ball with it you will get everything out of it;
    See “golf pro lesson fairway woods and skipping technique” video and make sure you swing along or across the ground and not down;
    Shawn

  9. omeradhia Said,

    hey shawn, I have the taylor made burner 07 driver and based on your suggestion I should tee the ball closer to the ground. But wouldn’t teeing it that low, compromise on the driver distance?

  10. clemshaw Said,

    Thanks for the question; My Typical carry with the driver is 285 to 295 in still conditions; which will yield 310 to 320 on the average fairway; 3 wood carry is 255 to 265;
    Shawn

  11. schalch08 Said,

    Hey shawn! ive seen all of your videos. And im just curious at how far you hit your driver? It seems like you just absolutley kill the ball on your videos.

  12. clemshaw Said,

    Good question!
    The key is to have your eyes in one place; either on the back of the ball or on a spot on the ground in front of you; see “golf pro lesson the Insanity of Golf” video for further insight! Shawn

  13. aldojoel1981 Said,

    Hi Shawn a question? I know that you recomend that eyes staying in one spot that you recomed behind the ball, but with the driver when de ball is in your front toe, where you put your eyes?

  14. clemshaw Said,

    Odd irons are right; even irons are left; Right handed Driver and Left handed 3 wood or vice versa depending on the course; same distance and trajectory from both sides;
    Shawn

  15. clemshaw Said,

    To add to the previous comment below see also “golf pro lesson through the ball’ where you will see some nice analogies on how to swing to the target and let the ball get in the way; if you make the ball your target, you are toast!! See also “Golf pro lesson target focus” and “golf pro lesson how to repeat your practice swing”

  16. johnjlee87 Said,

    are you a lefty or a righty? i’ve seen you hit both ways

  17. bwin1983 Said,

    Hi,

    When I am driving, my ball goes straight about 35 to 45 yards and hooks hard right. How can I fix this?

  18. clemshaw Said,

    Hey Sean;
    Get back to basics! Use the one leg swing and the feet together swing with the driver; then do the sequence power drill and see how it irons out; you are probably swinging too fast and hard with it and getting stuck on your right side in the process; see also ” golf pro lesson timing and tempo”

    hi shawn

    i have got a disasterous hook on my drives
    help!!!

  20. clemshaw Said,

    Have a look at my “golf pro lesson taut swing philosophy” as well as the “Golf pro lesson braced tilt part 2″ videos; they will give you plenty of insight as to how to feel the movement of the “ANCHORED RELEASE”; Shawn

  21. swebs7 Said,

    Hi I’m 15 and a 17 handicapper at my local golf course. I usually carry a driver, but whenever I use it, the golf ball always seems to fade massively without me meaning to do it. Any suggestions?

  22. bluejfk Said,

    I wanted to say that I have had my driver, woods and irons all working together for consecutive weeks.

    I was not getting my feet wide enough to allow for a bigger tilt. I also cut down my driver to 44″ since I swing more upright due to my height. I have not lost any yardage with the shorter driver since my contact is so much better.

    After 7 months of doing this swing change I feel I can now move to the short game practice area at my local golf course!!

    Thanks Shawn!!!

  23. bluejfk Said,

    I partially agree with you and with shawn’s comment below.

    I almost always play with just 3 hybrids (15.5, 18, 23 ), irons, wedges, putter and a driver. With Shawn’s swing theory and being 6′ 3″ I have a very upright and steep swing. I often hit my 15.5* hybrid better than my 13* 3 wood.

    I think this happens because my feet are not wide enough thus my tilt is not as pronounced. WIth a bigger tilt the more you sweep the ball. The driver head may produce more drag in a steeper swing.

  24. xMEllamoBADASSx Said,

    Actually, its all Air Resistance. The driver has the biggest head, therefore the greatest drag caused by air.

  25. clemshaw Said,

    Your driver needs more abandon to the target! See “golf pro lesson through the ball” and hear the club whistle loudly way past the ball; Shawn
